ACSAD has become an expertise house because of its long experience and its excellent reputation. It has carried out field studies and scientific and applied researches and organized training courses on different fields (water, soil, plant production, animal production , and environment) through funding provided by Arab governments, Arab and international organizations and technical cooperation agencies in advanced countries.
ACSAD has experience in the following fields and activities :

In the field of the water studies and projects :

	Making evaluation studies of different water subjects
	Giving technical expert advices on hydrogeological and hydrological fields
	Carrying out integrated hydrogeophysical studies for the development of the water resources
	Carrying out isotopic and hydrochemical studies
	Making hydrogeological maps of different scales through the use of the Geographic Information System techniques
	Making maps of the groundwater's vulnerability to pollution
	Designing water data banks and linking them with the Geographic Information System
	Preparing mathematical models for the management of the water resources
	Preparing mathematical models for the movement of pollutants in the groundwater
	Calculating the water balances of the water basins
	Making fields studies to determine the actual evapotranspiration values in the irrigated areas under arid and semi - arid climate
	Carrying out rainwater harvesting projects
	Training the cadres at different levels in the field of water resources technology.

In the field of soil and waters use :

	Designing irrigation and drainage networks which suit different types of agricultural lands
	Preparing different programmes for the scheduling of irrigation and fertigation whether at the farm level or at the level of the large - scale agricultural projects
	Studying the salt and water balance in irrigated agricultural areas
	Identifying the state of soil salinity after harvesting the agricultural crops through electromagnetic instruments and making contour maps of the different soil salinity levels
	Identifying the crop rotations which suit different water qualities according to the soil quality and climatic conditions
	Harvesting water and using the water in supplemental irrigation
	Using the saline and moderately saline water in the supplemental irrigation of different agricultural crops
	Establishing soil and terrain databases according to the most modern systems (SOTER) , extracting different thematic maps to make the optimum use of the lands, rehabilitating the degraded lands and training the national cadres how to prepare them .

In the field of the plant studies :

	Drawing up an executive plan for the cereal crops breeding programme (wheat and barley) with the aim to produce improved varieties tolerant of environmental stresses.
	Preparing seed multiplication programmes for cereal crops, supervising the different stages of the improved seed production and conducting quality tests.
	Establishing plant gene banks for cereals crops, range plants and fruit trees.
	Making technical studies pertaining to the implementation of projects specialized in fruit trees.
	Making studies pertaining to the infrastructures of the operations for the development of the fruit trees such as the nurseries, mother fields and gene banks and supervising the implementation of the work.
	Studying the improvement and development of the rangelands, preparing pilot development projects and supervising the implementation of the work.
	Drawing up plans for carrying out the surveys of the range plant cover and the environmental surveys and preparing the appropriate plant maps.
	Carrying out studies aiming to develop the forest environmental systems and conserve the agricultural biodiversity and use it in the sustainable development.
	Establishing the environmental protected areas to conserve the different genetic resources.
	Training the Arab technical cadres in the field of the improvement of the plant production.

In the field of the animal wealth :

	Designing the guidelines and executive programmes for the genetic improvement operations for sheep and goats
	Organizing the plans and implementing the processes of directing reproduction in the small ruminants to improve the reproductive efficiency
	Managing the animal herds and introducing the animal into the farming systems. Designing and implementing the studies on the management and exploitation of the natural rangelands
	Designing and implementing the studies on animal feeding and the rational use of forages
	Designing the animal production constructions from the technical aspect
	Designing the artificial insemination laboratories for the small ruminants
	Giving expert advices in the field of the equipment of the laboratories of artificial inseminations, embryo transfer and feed analysis
	Designing the living gene banks of the animals
	Designing the databases pertaining to the animal production

In the field of the studies of the integrated projects :

Implementing integrated projects through which integrated researches and studies are carried out dealing with a number of agricultural resources at the same time (soil, climate, rangelands, animal wealth, etc. ) in addition to supplemental socioeconomic studies in a specific area in an Arab country or in specific areas in some neighboring Arab countries. The studies lead to the drawing up of an integrated plan for developing the targeted area.


In the field of training and the transfer of modern techniques:

The transfer of the technical knowledge and modern techniques, which are suitable for the Arab conditions, is one of the main pivots of ACSAD's work strategy. This pivot depends on the development of the human force working in the fields of development and environment in the Arab arid and semi - arid areas to make it capable of using and establishing the new techniques through the organization of training courses and seminars on different subjects.

In addition to the training courses organized for trainees from different Arab countries ACSAD organizes special training courses on specialized subjects pertaining to ACSAD tasks and activities.

ACSAD has established three specialized training centers in Syria where ACSAD headquarters based.
The first one is specialized in training in the techniques of reclaiming the saline soils as well as irrigation and drainage. The second one is specialized in crops and fruit trees and the third one is specialized in animal production and rangelands development.
Moreover, ACSAD cooperates with many Arab and international training centers.

ACSAD has gained an excellent expertise in the field of training and the transfer of modern techniques and therefore many Arab governments and Arab and international organizations request ACSAD to train their technical personnel in different fields.
